More Childhood Photos

I’ve spent months going through my late father’s boxes and boxes of photos, slides, and negatives. There were so many that it was overwhelming to even consider trying to scan them and convert to digital media myself. We sent them out in groups of about 1000 each to be professionally scanned and, in some cases, restored.

I found a few more photos of my beloved grandfather, the man who inspired Linden St. Clair’s grandfather in Braha, and his Jeep, along with some pictures of my sister and  I in the avocado grove and on the fire trails. Thought I’d share them with you here. Enjoy!

Here I am, riding in the Jeep. This time it's summer and I apparently didn't need the scarf and coat. Note: there were no seat belts. We stayed put in the back of the Jeep by hanging onto the back of the two front seats with our chubby little fingers.

Here I am having fun in said Jeep, while it is in motion.

On this day I needed a jacket. We are on a fire trail in the hills above Escondido. My grandfather is probably smiling because I haven’t yet seen the snake by the side of the road.

Here is the snake by the side of the road. Not sure what kind of snake it is, but in my opinion there are no good snakes.

In this shot, my grandfather had to make a pit stop and add some oil while on one of the dirt roads through his avocado grove.

Here I am again, patiently waiting to get on the road again.

After a day of driving on fire trails and through Spook’s Canyon, our grandfather deserved some hugs from his grateful granddaughters.
